Primary Location: London (home and site based)

Office Requirement: Occasional travel to Stockport

Salary: £60,000 – £80,000+ (DOE)

Start: ASAP

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

Our client is a well-established Design & Build contractor based in Manchester with a strong presence across both the Northwest and London. They deliver a range of services including fit-outs, refurbishments, structural extensions, and small to large-scale new build projects.

They typically deliver projects in the Northwest up to circa £15m, while their London portfolio spans a broader range of approximately £10m to £50m+, reflecting larger and more complex city-centre schemes. The business has a strong reputation across the Commercial, Industrial, Healthcare, and Education sectors and continues to grow its London presence.

Overview

They are now looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of their growing London-based workload. This is a key commercial hire within the business, offering the opportunity to lead on major live projects while working closely with senior leadership on wider commercial delivery.

The role will be home and site based across London projects, with occasional travel to the Stockport office to attend senior commercial meetings and collaborate with the wider team.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Design & Build projects, ideally across both refurbishment and new build schemes, with solid exposure to both live delivery and pre-construction activities.

Responsibilities

Manage project cost control across multiple live schemes
Oversee commercial performance from pre-construction through to final account
Agree and negotiate variations with clients and subcontractors
Process valuations, applications for payment, and claims
Produce, maintain, and report on accurate cost forecasts and financial reporting
Support procurement strategy and assist with tendering and package analysis
Work closely with pre-construction and design teams to ensure commercial alignment
Assist with pricing, cost planning, and procurement pack preparation
Prepare and support forecast final accounts and cost reporting
Lead and support final account negotiations on completion of works
Conduct site visits across London as required
Report into and work closely with the Managing QS and senior leadership team 

Must Have

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry (Senior QS level preferred)
Strong background in Design & Build projects
Experience across refurbishment and/or new build sectors
Solid understanding of cost management, procurement, and final accounts
Ability to work across London projects and travel to site as required
Willingness to travel to the Stockport office on occasion
Strong communication skills and confidence working with senior stakeholders
Stable and structured career history
