Position Title: Technical Lead – Heat Networks
Salary: Circa £80,000 + discretionary bonus
Contract Type: Permanent

Client Base:
Clients include housing providers and property managers operating heat networks, particularly within social housing. This includes housing associations, local authorities, and managing agents.

The Role

This is a senior technical position responsible for leading the delivery and development of consultancy services related to heat networks. The role combines engineering expertise with client engagement, project oversight, and contribution to business growth.

The successful candidate will act as a technical authority across a range of services such as:

* Network optimisation projects

* Decarbonisation assessments

* Asset reviews and acceptance testing

* Metering feasibility studies

* Compliance with emerging regulatory frameworks and industry standards

The role may evolve to include line management and broader project leadership responsibilities, as well as mentoring junior team members.

Working Arrangements:

Flexible working options available (minimum 4 days / 30 hours per week)

Remote working supported, with occasional travel across the UK, including overnight stays

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

* Oversee project delivery, ensuring quality, timeliness, and resource efficiency

* Provide technical governance and quality assurance

* Lead complex projects across the full lifecycle (feasibility through operation)

* Mentor and support development of junior staff

Business Development & Industry Engagement

* Monitor policy, regulatory, and technological developments

* Contribute to development of new services and continuous improvement

* Support bid preparation, including technical input and pricing

* Represent the organisation at industry events and contribute to thought leadership

Site Work

* Lead site surveys in accordance with industry standards

* Conduct assessments such as optimisation reviews, feasibility studies, and acceptance testing

* Liaise with clients, contractors, and end users

* Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements

Reporting & Analysis

* Produce technical and economic reports

* Analyse performance data and identify improvement opportunities

* Engage with manufacturers and supply chain stakeholders

Client & Project Management

* Build and maintain strong client relationships

* Deliver presentations, workshops, and training

* Translate technical concepts into clear, practical advice

Person Specification

Essential

Minimum 5 years’ experience in the heat network sector

Strong technical knowledge across design, operation, optimisation, and decarbonisation

Experience conducting site-based assessments across varied systems

Ability to analyse and interpret technical data

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Desirable

Experience working with social housing providers

Involvement in optimisation or decarbonisation projects

Interest in emerging technologies and low-carbon solutions
