Design Manager – Bristol office

Full-time/ Permanent, £45-60k salary + Benefits

Our clients are a leading main contractor delivering commercial fit-out/ refurbishment projects, and are now growing their commercial team in Bristol in line with a strong pipeline of projects.

Suitable applicants will have prior experience in design management within commercial build projects, preferably the fit-out/ refurbishment sector. Experience working for a main contractor is preferred, read on for more details!

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Design management & coordination, leading the design process between all internal and external parties.

*

Strong understanding of RIBA stages, managing the design process throughout ensuring each stage is completed according to plan.

*

Overseeing external consultants involved in the project, keeping check on output, compliance, timelines and reviews.

*

Conduct regular reviews of all technical designs, ensuring these are in line with Building Regs and BSA.

*

Identify and mitigate risks from early design phases to on-site delivery, ensuring project delivery runs smoothly.

*

Collaborate with various stakeholders, commercial teams, clients and all external parties. Ensuring regular reviews and updates take place pre and post project, with an oversight on project delivery being to specification and meeting expectations.

This role will work from the Bristol office with regular site visits to perform expected duties.

Qualifications/Skills required

*

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Design and Construction Management, Architectural Technology, or related field

*

Professional accreditation or membership with relevant industry bodies (e.g. CIAT, RIBA etc.) (preferred but not essential)

*

Strong understanding of all RIBA stages, from concept design to post-completion evaluation

*

Experience managing/ coordinating multidisciplinary teams in a construction environment

*

Strong technical understanding of architectural, structural, fire and M&E disciplines, with the ability to review and challenge designs to ensure practicality and compliance

*

Ability to identify potential design issues early in the project and implement effective solutions, ensuring minimal disruption to timelines or budgets

*

In-depth knowledge of UK construction standards, planning laws, and building regulations relevant to refurbishment projects
