Senior Engineer – Civils (Short-Term Contract)

We’re working with a civils contractor who require a Senior Engineer to support a short-term package involving the installation of new traffic‑management infrastructure within a large, high‑footfall car park. The works include small civils elements such as ducting trenches, minor excavation and reinstatement, and coordinating the installation of automated barrier systems.
Although titled as a Senior Engineer role, the position is heavily supervision‑focused, with very limited technical engineering required.
What You’ll Be Doing
Overseeing day‑to‑day civils activities on a live public site
Ensuring Health & Safety compliance in a busy environment
Supervising ducting, trenching and minor reinstatement works
Coordinating with barrier installation teams and subcontractors
Acting as the main point of contact for the client
Engaging with the public and managing pedestrian/vehicle interface
Supporting the team with problem‑solving and sequencing
Carrying out occasional light setting out/marking out if needed
What They’re Looking For
Background in setting out or civil engineering
Strong understanding of buildability and site coordination
Confident supervising small civils packages
Comfortable dealing with the public in a live environment
Clear communicator with good client‑facing skills
SMSTS or SSSTS preferred
