️ Job Specification: Class 2A / 2B / 2D Registered Building Inspector
Location: London & South East Employment Type: Full‑time Registration Required: Class 2A, 2B or 2D (Building Safety Regulator)
🧭 Role Purpose
Deliver high‑quality, compliant building control services across London and the South East. You will carry out plan assessments and site inspections within the scope of your Class 2A, 2B or 2D registration, ensuring building work meets the requirements of the Building Regulations and contributes to safe, sustainable development.
🏢 Key Responsibilities
Plan Assessment
Review plans, specifications and supporting documents for Building Regulations compliance.
Provide clear, timely technical feedback to clients, designers and contractors.
Identify non‑compliance and advise on acceptable solutions.
Site Inspections
Conduct inspections at key construction stages.
Record findings accurately and maintain digital inspection logs.
Escalate safety concerns or regulatory breaches in line with BSR requirements.
Regulatory Compliance
Operate strictly within the building categories permitted by your registration class.
Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Building Regulations, Approved Documents and BSR guidance.
Ensure all work aligns with the Building Inspector Competence Framework (BICoF).
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
Provide professional advice to homeowners, developers, architects and contractors.
Represent the organisation during meetings, site visits and regulatory discussions.
Build strong working relationships across the construction supply chain.
Reporting & Documentation
Prepare inspection reports, compliance notes and decision records.
Contribute to audit processes and quality assurance reviews.
Maintain accurate, secure records in accordance with BSR requirements.
🎓 Essential Qualifications & Requirements
Registered Building Inspector (RBI) with the Building Safety Regulator.
Valid Class 2A, 2B or 2D registration.
Demonstrable competence in relevant building categories.
Strong understanding of Building Regulations and associated guidance.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across London & the South East.
💡 Desirable Experience
Experience within a local authority or approved inspector environment.
Familiarity with digital building control systems.
Membership of a professional body (e.g., CABE, RICS, CIOB).
Experience with complex or multi‑disciplinary construction projects.
