We are working in partnership with a well-established and highly reputable civil engineering and residential groundworks contractor to appoint a Head of Finance.
This is a key strategic hire, offering the opportunity to join a growing business and play a pivotal role in shaping its financial direction, supporting senior leadership, and driving long-term growth.
The Role
As Head of Finance, you will take full ownership of the finance function, providing strategic leadership while ensuring robust financial controls, compliance, and performance across the business.
This is a hands-on leadership role combining strategic input with operational oversight.
Key responsibilities include:
* Developing and delivering long-term financial strategy aligned with business objectives
* Leading, mentoring, and developing the finance team
* Overseeing production of financial statements, management accounts, and key reporting
* Providing commercial insight and analysis to support senior leadership decision-making
* Managing budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning
* Driving effective cash management and credit control processes
* Ensuring compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements (including VAT, CIS, pensions)
* Managing financial risk, governance, and internal controls
* Supporting funding strategies, investment decisions, and business growth initiatives
* Continuously improving financial systems, processes, and efficiencies
About You
We are looking to speak with high-calibre finance professionals who:
* Are ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
* Have a proven track record in a senior finance leadership role
* Ideally have experience within construction, civil engineering, or a project-led environment
* Are commercially astute with strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
* Have experience leading and developing finance teams
* Can operate both strategically and hands-on when required
