Trainee Estimator

Location: Finchley, North London 

Overview:

An excellent opportunity for a Trainee Estimator to join a growing construction and building services company based in Finchley. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop a career in estimating, with full training provided and clear progression opportunities.

You will support the estimating team in preparing accurate costings and tenders for a range of projects, while gaining hands-on experience within a fast-paced commercial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in preparing cost estimates for construction and building projects
Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents
Measure quantities and support take-offs
Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations
Help compile and submit tender packages
Maintain and update project cost databases and records
Support senior estimators with ongoing projects and pricing exercises
Ensure all work is completed in line with company procedures and deadlines

Skills & Experience:

Strong numerical and analytical skills
Good attention to detail
Confident using Microsoft Excel and basic IT systems
Strong communication and organisational skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
A keen interest in construction or building services

Desirable (Not Essential):

Previous experience in construction, labouring, or administration
Knowledge of estimating or cost planning
Relevant qualification (e.g. Construction, Quantity Surveying)
