Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Development Monitoring – Learn Faster. E
The Opportunity
I’m working with a specialist London consultancy offering one of the most unique entry-level roles in the market right now.
This is an Assistant Quantity Surveyor position with a clear focus on Development Monitoring (often referred to as Fund Monitoring or Project Monitoring), giving you early exposure to how major schemes are financed, assessed, and delivered.
If you’re looking for a standard graduate scheme, this isn’t it.
If you want real responsibility, direct project exposure, to earn more and to learn faster than your peer group — this is exactly that.
Why This Role Is Different
You won’t be stuck doing take-offs for two years.
From day one, you’ll be involved in live development monitoring instructions – working with lenders, understanding risk, and seeing how large-scale projects are structured financially.
As your experience grows, you’ll take on Quantity Surveying responsibilities alongside this, building a genuinely valuable dual skillset.
What You’ll Be Doing
Supporting on development monitoring instructions from the outset
Assisting with lender reports, drawdowns, and risk assessments
Working on large residential and mixed-use developments
Attending site visits and contributing to project reviews
Learning how schemes are funded and commercially structured
Building QS capability alongside monitoring work as you progress
Working closely with senior surveyors and leadership
What I’m Looking For
RICS-accredited degree (or working towards)
Graduate or up to 12 months’ experience in Quantity Surveying or consultancy
Strong academics and a commercially aware mindset
Genuine interest in development, finance, and the built environment
Driven, adaptable, and keen to learn quickly
How You’ll Progress
Year 1 focused on development monitoring fundamentals
Increasing exposure to Quantity Surveying from year 2
Structured APC support with an in-house assessor
Clear route to Chartership within 3–3.5 years
Direct mentorship from highly experienced professionals
Salary & Benefits
£30,000 – £35,000 base salary
25% performance bonus
Realistic first-year earnings exceeding £40,000
Full APC support with fees paid
Private healthcare
Exposure to top-tier lenders and high-value developments
The Environment
Small, specialist team (circa 10–20 people)
Office-based to maximise learning and development
Direct access to senior leadership
High-performance, non-corporate culture
Fast progression based on ability, not time served
Why Apply?
This is one of the strongest entry-level roles in London for anyone serious about accelerating their career in Quantity Surveying.
You’ll gain a commercial and financial understanding of development that most QSs don’t see until much later – putting you in a different league early on.
