Site Manager Housing

We are currently representing a reputable residential housebuilder with a strong pipeline of work across the region. They are seeking an experienced Site Manager to join their team on a temporary basis (9–12 months) for a key project based in Welwyn Garden City.

This is a great opportunity to join an established site team and play a pivotal role in delivering a large-scale residential scheme, including both traditional housing and more complex apartment blocks.

Role Overview

As Site Manager, you will be responsible for driving the day-to-day delivery of the build programme, ensuring targets are met while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

You will take a lead role on site, managing assistant site managers and subcontractors, with a strong focus on programme delivery and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

* Drive the build programme to ensure timely delivery of units

* Manage and support a team of Assistant Site Managers

* Oversee subcontractors and site operations on a day-to-day basis

* Ensure all works are completed to a high standard of quality

* Maintain strict adherence to health & safety regulations

* Monitor progress and report updates to senior management

* Assist in the delivery of both housing plots and apartment blocks

* Coordinate with commercial and technical teams where required

Requirements

* Proven experience as a Site Manager within residential construction

* Experience working on both traditional housing and apartment schemes

* Strong leadership and organisational skills

* Ability to drive programmes and manage multiple workstreams

* Valid SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid certifications

Reporting Structure

You will report into the Senior Site Manager, who will retain overall oversight of the project while transitioning focus onto upcoming phases.

Contract Details

* Freelance / Temporary position

* Duration: Approximately 9–12 months

* Day rate: £260 – £280 per day (dependent on experience)
