A Plater Fabricator role on a new build Energy-from-Waste (EfW) project in the UK involves working with metal components, interpreting engineering drawings, and assembling structures. Key responsibilities include ¹ ² ³:
– Fabrication and Assembly: Cutting, shaping, and welding metal plates and components to precise specifications.
– Interpreting Drawings: Reading and understanding technical drawings and blueprints to ensure accurate fabrication.
– Quality Control: Ensuring high-quality workmanship, maintaining material traceability, and adhering to safety standards.
– Teamwork: Collaborating with welders, fabricators, and supervisors to meet production targets.

Typical requirements for a Plater Fabricator role include:
– Experience: Proven experience in fabrication, preferably in a heavy engineering or construction environment.
– Qualifications: City & Guilds or NVQ in fabrication, or equivalent apprenticeship.
– Skills: Proficiency in welding (MIG/TIG), cutting, and shaping metal components.
– Safety: Strong understanding of health and safety procedures, including working at heights.

· Level 3 Apprenticeship in Plating, Fabrication, Welding, Structural Steelwork, Shipbuilding or Metalworking

· Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Plating, Fabrication, Welding, Structural Steelwork, Shipbuilding or Metalworking

· (Minimum Level 6 in the above if the qualification/apprenticeship was awarded in Scotland)

· ACE Card – Level 3 in Plating

· Chinese Diploma in Welding and Fabrication
