Building Manager
As Building Manager, you'll lead the team responsible for building maintenance, fabric upkeep, and statutory compliance. You'll oversee strategic planning, risk management, lifecycle works, and ensure the estate remains safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.
You'll also carry out Authorised Person duties, ensuring all works meet statutory and technical standards.
The role involves regular engagement with senior managers and Trust stakeholders, requiring strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the building and estates team, ensuring high performance, motivation, and strong technical standards
Carry out Authorised Person duties in line with site requirements
Ensure all statutory, contractual, and compliance obligations are met and fully documented
Interpret and implement complex technical drawings, guidance, and external documentation
Develop strategic plans, maintenance schedules, and risk management strategies across the estate
Oversee maintenance and repair of building fabric including fire doors, windows, roofs, and structural elements
Coordinate regular inspections, surveys, and lifecycle assessments
Manage PPM systems, plant inventories, and maintenance schedules
Ensure maintenance works are delivered safely, on time, and within budget
Produce budgets, long‑term maintenance plans, and option appraisals
Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and healthcare partners
Requirements
Relevant FM/building certifications (NEBOSH, IOSH, IWFM or similar)
Proven experience in a senior building or estates management role
Strong understanding of building fabric and maintenance principles
AP qualification advantageous (or willingness to work towards it)
Experience in healthcare estates management is highly desirable
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to interpret complex technical documents and compliance standards
