Role: Freelance Quantity Surveyor (General Civils)
Location: Folkestone, Kent
Rate: £400 – £450 per day (LTD / Outside IR35)
Duration: 6 Months +
Start Date: ASAP
The Opportunity
We are looking for a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor to join a leading general civils project in Folkestone. This is a fast-paced freelance assignment offering a 6-month initial term with a high likelihood of extension.
Crucially, this role is open to LTD Company contractors, providing a competitive daily rate for a candidate who can hit the ground running and manage the commercial lifecycle of various civil engineering work packages.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Management: Administering NEC (or JCT) contracts, ensuring all commercial interests are protected.
Cost Control: Managing project budgets, forecasting, and producing detailed Monthly Cost Reports (CVRs).
Subcontractor Management: Handling everything from initial procurement and tendering to monthly valuations and final accounts.
Change Management: Identifying, notifying, and pricing variations and compensation events promptly.
Valuations: Preparing and submitting interim applications for payment to the client.
Requirements
Experience: Strong background in General Civils (earthworks, infrastructure, or highways).
Qualifications: Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline; RICS or ICES accreditation is a bonus but not essential for the right freelance profile.
Software Skills: Proficiency in Excel and commercial management software.
Immediate Availability: Ability to start ASAP to support current project milestones.
Entity: Must have an active LTD Company with relevant insurances.
