Job Description:
The Company
We are working with a leading specialist subcontractor operating across London, delivering high-quality structural and builders’ work packages on complex refurbishment and redevelopment projects.
Their work includes cut and carve, underpinning, temporary works, structural steel alterations, concrete works, airspace extensions, and basement construction—often within live and heritage environments.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.
The Role
* Commercial management of multiple structural and builders’ work packages
* Preparation and submission of valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts
* Pricing and agreement of variations, dayworks, and change orders
* Procurement and management of subcontractors and specialist suppliers
* Supporting tender submissions with take-offs, cost plans, and budget forecasts
* Cost tracking, forecasting, and financial reporting
* Reviewing contract terms and managing commercial risk (typically JCT)
* Attending project meetings and liaising with site teams
* Regular site visits across London
About You
* 4+ years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a subcontracting or specialist contractor environment
* Experience in cut & carve, structural alterations, underpinning, temporary works, or builders’ work
* Strong understanding of construction processes within refurbishment projects
* Good knowledge of JCT contracts and commercial management
* Confident in measurement, pricing, and valuations
* Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
* Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (desirable)
* Proficient in Excel and standard QS software
