Site Engineer

We are recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer to join a major civils and groundworks project in Bristol.

This is a long-term freelance opportunity working on a scheme involving heavy civils, groundworks, and road infrastructure, offering consistent work and the chance to be part of a well-structured project team.

The Role

As Site Engineer, you will be responsible for all aspects of setting out and surveying, supporting the delivery of works across roads, drainage, and infrastructure packages.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone confident working on busy sites and capable of managing their own workload.

Key Responsibilities

Setting out for roads, drainage, and groundworks packages

Carrying out surveys and maintaining site control

Producing accurate as-built drawings and records

Interpreting technical drawings and specifications

Supporting site teams and subcontractors with technical guidance

Ensuring works are delivered in line with programme and tolerances

Assisting with QA and site documentation

Requirements

Proven experience as a Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer

Strong background in heavy civils, groundworks, and roadworks

Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively

Good understanding of site processes and health & safety
