The Role
We are working with a well‑established regional contractor delivering traditional new build housing developments across South Wales. Due to a strong and growing pipeline of residential work, they are looking to appoint an Assistant Site Manager to support live housing sites from groundworks through to completion and handover.
This is a hands‑on, site‑based role working closely with an experienced Site Manager or Senior Site Manager. It will suit an Assistant Site Manager looking to step up and take on more responsibility within new build housing. The business offers long‑term stability and clear progression to Site Manager level.
Key Responsibilities
• Supporting the Site / Senior Site Manager with daily site operations
• Managing subcontractors and direct labour on site
• Driving programme, quality and productivity
• Monitoring health & safety compliance and site procedures
• Coordinating materials, deliveries and site logistics
• Attending subcontractor meetings, toolbox talks and briefings
• Assisting with NHBC inspections and Building Control visits
• Maintaining accurate site records and reporting progress
• Supporting snagging, completions and structured handover
About You
You will have experience working on new build housing developments, ideally with a regional contractor or national housebuilder, and be comfortable operating in a site‑based environment.
Essential
• Experience on new build housing sites
• Assistant Site Manager experience
• SMSTS or SSSTS
• CSCS card (Supervisor or Management level)
• Full UK driving licence
Desirable
• Experience on multi‑plot residential developments
• Exposure to NHBC and Building Control
• Strong communication and organisational skills
