Graduate Electrical Engineer
A well established building services consultancy has an immediate requirement for a Graduate Electrical Engineer to join their design team.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Technical Support
* Assist in the design of electrical building services systems, including:
* Lighting and lighting controls
* Small power and general power distribution
* Emergency lighting and life safety systems
* Earthing and bonding
* Lightning protection
* Fire alarm and security systems
* Data, communications, and AV systems
* Carry out calculations such as load assessments, cable sizing, voltage drop and diversity
* Support the production of electrical schematics and layouts using CAD/BIM software
* Help develop designs in compliance with current regulations and standards, including BS 7671, Building Regulations and relevant British/European Standards
Project Delivery
* Assist senior engineers in delivering projects across all RIBA stages (concept to completion)
* Produce technical reports, drawings and specifications under supervision
* Coordinate with other disciplines (mechanical, public health, structural, architectural)
* Attend internal design reviews, client meetings, and site visits
* Respond to technical queries and support the resolution of design and site issues
Modelling & Digital Engineering
* Develop skills in AutoCAD and Revit (BIM Level 2/3 environments)
* Assist in clash detection and coordinated model development
* Support the use of calculation and modelling tools (e.g. lighting design software)
Site & Construction Support
* Attend site inspections and construction progress meetings
* Support checking of contractor installations against design intent
* Assist with testing, commissioning, and handover documentation
* Help review contractors’ technical submissions and drawings
Sustainability & Compliance
* Support the integration of energy-efficient and low-carbon solutions
* Assist with sustainability strategies, including Part L compliance, energy calculations and emerging net-zero approaches
* Contribute to value engineering and life-cycle cost considerations
