An interim opportunity has arisen for an experienced Gas Manager to join a large housing organisation on a 12‑month basis. This role requires the successful individual to be based on site three days per week.
The organisation is delivering a substantial housing capital investment programme, with planned investment of approximately £150m over the next two years. As part of this programme, an experienced gas professional is required to provide robust leadership on compliance, safety, and contractor performance.

About the Role

The Housing Operations division is seeking an experienced Interim Gas Manager to lead gas compliance, contract performance, and resident safety across a large housing portfolio. The postholder will be responsible for ensuring full statutory compliance and the delivery of a high‑quality, customer‑focused gas service.

Key Responsibilities

Manage all gas servicing, maintenance, and compliance across residential housing stock and associated non‑housing assets
Oversee gas contracts in line with the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998 and HSE Approved Codes of Practice
Achieve and maintain 100% annual gas safety checks, ensuring landlord gas safety records are compliant with the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985
Monitor contractor performance against KPIs and SLAs and manage procurement activity in line with the Public Contracts Regulations 2015
Ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022 and the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
Report performance, risk, and compliance issues to senior leadership and oversee emergency gas works protocols

Essential Requirements

Gas Safe Registration (mandatory)
Strong, demonstrable experience in gas contract management, including KPI oversight and performance management
Proven track record delivering gas compliance within a social housing or local authority environment
Sound working knowledge of gas safety legislation, HSE guidance, and regulatory frameworks

Desirable

IOSH or NEBOSH qualification
Knowledge of asset management systems
