Freelance Quantity Surveyor – Planned Works (Social Housing Refurbishment)
Location: Dartford
Contract Type: Freelance, £250 per day (with potential to go permanent after 6 months)

We are currently working with a Tier One Property Services Contractor who is seeking an experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Dartford. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a long-term programme of planned works within the social housing refurbishment sector, with the option to transition into a permanent role after an initial 6-month period or continue on a freelance basis.

The Role
You will be responsible for overseeing the commercial management of planned maintenance and refurbishment works across a portfolio of social housing projects. This is a key role ensuring financial control, contract compliance, and value delivery across multiple schemes.

Key Responsibilities

Managing all commercial aspects of planned works projects

Preparing, reviewing, and negotiating subcontractor packages

Cost planning, forecasting, and reporting

Valuations, variations, and final accounts

Ensuring projects are delivered within budget and in line with contractual obligations

Liaising closely with operational teams, clients, and stakeholders

Requirements

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the social housing or property services sector

Strong background in planned maintenance/refurbishment works

Experience working for a main contractor (Tier One experience desirable)

Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills

Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders effectively
