About the Role
City Calling is delighted to be recruiting a Quantity Surveyor on behalf of a respected main contractor operating in North London. Our client has recently been awarded significant works within a regeneration scheme – one of the largest and most high-profile development projects in the capital.
This is an opportunity to join a hands-on, delivery-focused team working across multiple residential blocks, including apartments, reception areas, amenity spaces, and leisure facilities.
Key Responsibilities

Manage all commercial aspects of the project from procurement to final account.

Prepare and submit valuations and applications for payment in line with contract terms.
*
Monitor project costs, variations, and change control, ensuring early warning of cost overruns.
*
Procure and manage sub-contractor packages, including placing orders, processing payments, and agreeing final accounts.
*
Liaise with the site team to track progress, manage material deliveries, and resolve commercial issues on the ground.
*
Work closely with the client and supply chain to ensure timely flow of information and materials – including managing logistics where supplies are sourced from Europe.
*
Attend site progress meetings and provide commercial reports to senior management.
*
Assist in resolving drying time and sequencing challenges in relation to floor screeds and changing environmental conditions.
About You
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working on residential or mixed-use new-build projects, ideally with a main contractor or developer. You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and able to solve practical commercial problems on site.
Essential skills and experience:

Proven track record as a Quantity Surveyor in UK construction.

Experience with sub-contract procurement, valuations, and cost reporting.
*
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
*
Good knowledge of JCT or similar standard forms of contract.
*
Ability to work independently and as part of a small commercial team.
*
Eligible to work in the UK.
Desirable but not essential:
*
Experience with residential apartment schemes.
*
Familiarity with logistics / material sourcing from European suppliers.
*
Experience with floor screeding packages and managing drying time issues.
