Geotechnical Engineer
A well-established London-based civil engineering consultancy is seeking an exeprienced Geotechnical Engineer to join their growing ground engineering team. The company delivers technically challenging projects across the UK and internationally, working across sectors including major infrastructure, tunnelling, rail, and new build developments.
This is an excellent opportunity for a geotechnical engineer who is looking to take the next step in their career within a collaborative consultancy environment where you will play a key role in both project delivery and technical development.
The Role
As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will contribute to the design and delivery of a diverse portfolio of civil engineering projects. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and support both technical delivery and junior staff development.
Key responsibilities include:
* Geotechnical design and analysis for infrastructure, tunnelling, rail and building projects
* Interpretation of ground investigation data and preparation of ground models
* Production of geotechnical design reports, specifications and calculations
* Design of foundations, retaining structures, slopes and earthworks
* Liaising with clients, contractors and project stakeholders
* Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers
* Supporting project management and delivery within programme and budget
Requirements
* Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related discipline
* Approximately 5–10 years’ experience within geotechnical engineering
* Experience working on infrastructure, rail, tunnelling, or major development projects
* Strong knowledge of geotechnical design principles and UK standards (e.g. Eurocodes)
* Experience interpreting ground investigation data and preparing geotechnical reports
* Working toward or already achieving Chartered status (ICE or equivalent)
* Excellent communication and technical reporting skills
* Experience of working with software including PLAXIS and AutoCad
