Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 (depending on experience)

Introduction

Are you interested in working within the construction industry, particularly in architectural facades? This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to join a growing commercial team as a Quantity Surveyor.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing the contractual and financial aspects of façade projects. The role involves cost planning, budget control, tender support, subcontractor management, valuations, and commercial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and manage project cost cash flow, budgets, and profitability reports

Produce BOQs and provide monthly financial reporting

Analyse drawings, specifications, and project scope to identify risks and opportunities

Assess and price variations

Lead subcontractor and supplier procurement, including enquiries, negotiations, and contract preparation

Manage cost control, variations, and commercial risks throughout projects

Prepare interim valuations, final accounts, and commercial reports

Conduct site visits for measurement and progress evaluation

Liaise with design teams, site staff, clients, and contractors

Support value engineering and cost optimisation

Maintain accurate project records and documentation

Key Requirements

Education

Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field

Working towards professional accreditation (e.g. RICS or CIOB) is desirable

Experience

Experience in Quantity Surveying or Estimating within the construction industry (subcontractor level preferred)

Ability to review and interpret drawings, specifications, and project documentation

Experience in cost planning aligned with construction programmes

Site experience or internships are advantageous

Technical Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)

Ability to interpret contracts (JCT/NEC) and technical drawings

Strong numerical and analytical skills

Experience with take-offs and cost analysis

Analytical & Detail-Oriented

High attention to detail

Ability to identify discrepancies and assess risk

Capable of supporting value engineering processes

Teamwork & Communication

Strong communication and negotiation skills

Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders

Willingness to learn and contribute to a team environment

Desirable (Not Essential)

Full UK driving licence

Knowledge of façade systems (cladding, curtain walling, rainscreen, etc.)

Experience with subcontractor procurement
