Elvet Recruitment is working in partnership with a privately owned construction based in Tyneside who have built a strong reputation across the Commercial, Education and Healthcare sectors, delivering high-quality projects throughout the North East

Their main contracts division typically delivers projects ranging from £2m to £30m. Due to an upcoming retirement, we are seeking an experienced Estimator to join an established team.

The Role

You will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates across a diverse portfolio of construction projects. Working closely with the Pre-Construction and Contracts teams, you will play a key role in securing new work and supporting successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

* Prepare detailed and competitive cost estimates for construction projects

* Work across a range of sectors including commercial, education, healthcare, retail and residential (£2m–£30m)

* Identify commercial and contractual risks and opportunities within tenders

* Manage multiple tenders and work to strict deadlines

* Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing

* Carry out site visits to understand project scope and site conditions

* Work closely with Pre-Construction and Contracts delivery teams

* Lead internal estimating handover meetings following successful tenders

* Apply strong knowledge of construction methods throughout the estimating process

Essential Experience and Skills

* Proven experience in a dedicated Estimator role within construction

* Experience preparing estimates on projects within a similar value range (£2m–£10m+)

* Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously

* Strong understanding of construction methods and pricing

* Experience using estimating software such as Conquest or Causeway

Desirable Experience

* Experience of two-stage tenders and negotiated projects

* Experience working on framework bids

* Attendance at post-tender interviews alongside delivery teams
