The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Commercial Manager with the administration, tracking, and reporting of commercial activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and effective cost management across all project phases.
Key Responsibilities
Compensation Events (CEs) & Change Management
Prepare, draft, and maintain Compensation Event quotations, narratives, and detailed cost build-ups in line with NEC4 and ACA Framework requirements
Collate and verify substantiation including labour hours, timesheets, outputs, and technical evidence to support CE submissions and client queries
Track Compensation Events through governance, approval, and instruction stages, ensuring full alignment with project records and commercial strategy
Cost Control & Reporting
Maintain accurate and up-to-date cost data including actuals, commitments, accruals, and forecasts
Produce cost summaries, variance analysis, and commercial dashboards to support monthly reporting cycles
Support the Commercial Manager with monthly P&L reporting, including commentary on cost movements, risks, and opportunities
Records & Audit Trail
Maintain comprehensive commercial records covering labour, deliverables, productivity, supply chain spend, and supporting audit evidence
Respond to client commercial queries with clear, structured, and fully traceable documentation
Supply Chain Support
Assist in reviewing subcontractor quotations, invoices, and claims to ensure compliance with contractual requirements and value-for-money principles
Monitor supply chain performance against scope, budget, and deliverables, escalating issues where required
Commercial Governance
Ensure all commercial submissions, quotations, and documentation comply with joint venture governance standards prior to issue
Maintain adherence to internal commercial processes, systems, and templates
Support continuous improvement of commercial reporting tools and processes
Project Support
Work closely with project delivery teams to understand scope, progress, risks, and outputs
Support pricing of works and alignment of commercial strategy across the project lifecycle
Attend commercial reviews, meetings, and stakeholder discussions as required
Risk & Opportunity Management
Identify and escalate emerging commercial risks and opportunities linked to cost, scope, change, or delivery constraints
Support mitigation planning and ensure accurate recording within project risk registers
