Freelance Design Manager

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Design Manager to join a major refurbishment project on a 2-year contract. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering a high-profile scheme, managing the design process to project completion.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate the design process across all project stages
Liaise with architects, consultants, subcontractors, and client teams
Ensure design information is delivered on time, within budget, and to required quality standards
Review and manage design programmes and deliverables
Identify and mitigate design risks and clashes
Lead design meetings and drive progress across disciplines
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and client requirements
Support the commercial and construction teams throughout delivery

Requirements

Proven experience as a Design Manager on refurbishment or retrofit projects
Strong understanding of construction processes and design coordination
Background working with main contractors or large-scale projects
Ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Proficiency in relevant design and project management tools (e.g., BIM, Aconex, etc.)
