Mechanical Engineer (Building Services)
Location: Site-based – Luton, Milton Keynes, Surrey, Gloucester
Salary: £65,000 + Car Allowance + Pension
Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Engineer to support the delivery of multiple residential and mixed-use projects across the South East and Midlands.
This is a site-based, technically focused role, working closely with both the design and delivery teams to ensure mechanical services are correctly specified, procured, and delivered on live projects.
Role Responsibilities
* Work closely with the design team to review and develop mechanical services designs
* Select and specify mechanical plant including pump sets, cold water storage tanks, and associated systems
* Carry out technical assessments including pressure requirements and system performance
* Issue technical data and readings to suppliers and subcontractors for pricing
* Review and analyse supplier and subcontractor quotations
* Support procurement of mechanical packages in conjunction with the commercial team
* Assist with coordination of sprinkler systems and review associated proposals
* Liaise with site teams to ensure installation aligns with design and specifications
* Support overall project delivery from a mechanical perspective
Requirements
* Proven experience in a Mechanical Engineer role within Building Services
* Strong understanding of mechanical systems including plant selection, pump sets, and water systems
* Experience working alongside design teams and reviewing technical submissions
* Ability to review and compare supplier quotations
* Good communication skills with both technical and site teams
* Full UK driving licence
Desirable
* Experience working on residential or mixed-use developments
* Exposure to sprinkler systems
* Knowledge of full M&E coordination (beneficial but not essential)
Additional Note (Important)
Project Managers within the business are expected to have a working knowledge of both mechanical and electrical services and be capable of managing both disciplines at a high level.
