Contracts Manager

Rogers McHugh Recruitment

About you
You are someone who enjoys being in the thick of things. Sitting in an office all week would not suit you. You like getting out on site, seeing projects come to life and being the person people rely on to keep things moving.

You are organised, practical and confident speaking with clients, site teams and suppliers. You take ownership of your work and you care about doing things properly. You are also open to learning. This role will expose you to a lot, so a willingness to get stuck in and pick things up quickly will take you far.

You are based around Greater Manchester and you drive, so getting to sites and suppliers is not an issue.

Your experience
You have around three or more years in the construction industry, ideally with a trade background such as roofing, refurbishment, rope access or similar specialist works.

You understand how projects run on site. You are comfortable with RAMS, health and safety documentation and have seen project programmes before.

You may have some exposure to building surveys or defect identification, although that is not essential.

You have spent some time in an office environment as well, so using Microsoft Word, Excel and general admin systems feels natural to you.

Most importantly, you understand how to balance site activity with office coordination.

What you will be doing with your experience
You will be managing projects from start to finish, ranging from smaller jobs through to larger schemes up to around £1m.

You will review quotes, understand the scope and work closely with estimators, supervisors and health and safety teams to get everything lined up.

You will speak with clients, attend pre start meetings and make sure access, programme and expectations are clear from day one.

You will organise materials, brief operatives on site and act as the main point of contact for anything that comes up.

You will keep an eye on progress, costs and variations, making sure everything stays on track commercially as well as operationally.

You will also spend time in the office handling project admin, supporting the wider team and occasionally picking up materials or visiting sites when needed.

No two days will feel the same, which is exactly what makes this role interesting.

About the business
This is a specialist contractor working across Manchester and the wider UK, delivering high level building surveys and refurbishment works using rope access and other specialist access methods.

They operate in a fast paced environment where projects can vary hugely in size and complexity. The team is close knit, practical and focused on getting the job done properly.

You will be joining a business that gives you exposure to unique projects and the chance to build a well rounded skill set across both site and office functions.

There is a company car, pension, on site parking and a relaxed working environment where people are trusted to get on with their work.
