About the role

As our Commissioning Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the optimal performance of our low-carbon heat pump systems. This position demands a blend of technical expertise and meticulous quality control to ensure that every installation functions seamlessly and meets our high standards.

Your primary responsibilities will revolve around the final wiring of heat pump systems, conducting thorough quality control, and managing all necessary documentation. You will also oversee the commissioning process, ensuring each system operates as intended and meets our high standards. A significant part of your role involves collaborating closely with installation teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth and successful commissioning.

Key responsibilities

As the Commissioning Engineer, you will be instrumental in the final stages of delivering our low-carbon heat systems. Your key responsibilities will encompass a range of tasks to ensure the optimal performance and reliability of our installations. These include:

· Completing the final wiring and setup of heat pump systems including circulation pumps and associated plant, ensuring adherence to design specifications and safety standards.

· Conducting rigorous quality control checks and reviewing documentation to guarantee system integrity and compliance. Utilised in our QC systems SimPRO & Procore.

· Leading the commissioning process for heat pumps and systems, ensuring they operate efficiently and meet intended performance criteria.

· Collaborating closely with installation teams, electricians, and other relevant internal and external stakeholders to coordinate and streamline the commissioning process.

· Addressing and resolving any technical issues that arise during the commissioning phase, implementing solutions to optimise system performance and escalating to Installations Manager where additional support is required.

· Ensuring all commissioning activities align with our commitment to providing sustainable, low-carbon heating solutions.

· Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry advancements and integrating best practices into commissioning processes.

· Providing training and guidance to the wider Rendesco team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.

· Demonstrates an interest in training and developing future members of the Installations team, to develop their career with Rendesco as the team grows.

Your role is crucial in ensuring that our heat pump systems are not only installed but also function at their best, contributing to our goal of delivering efficient and sustainable heating solutions.

Key requirements and qualifications

Experience and Skills:

· Demonstratable professional electrical experience primarily in commercial installations.

· Comprehensive understanding and experience in electrical wiring, safety standards, and BS7671 regulations.

· NVQ level 3 in building services or HVAC sector.

· Completion of the 18th Edition. Update to wiring regulations would be beneficial but not required.

· Proficiency in testing to BS2391 and a strong technical understanding of various heating systems and plant, controls, and both three-phase and single-phase power.

· A basic understanding of the principles of refrigeration systems.

· Demonstrated experience in the commissioning of complex systems 50kW plus, with a focus on quality control and system optimisation. Including domestic heat pump systems under 50kW.

· Proven ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team, with a keen eye for detail and a methodical approach to tasks.

Additional Requirements

· Clean drivers’ licence and the willingness to travel throughout the week visiting various projects as required. Staying away from home may be required on occasions.
