Senior Quantity Surveyor
Role Overview
Two Senior Quantity Surveyor positions are available to support a major construction programme on a secure defence infrastructure site in the South West of England.
These roles involve full commercial responsibility across defined work packages, operating within a compliance‑led and security‑controlled environment.
Security Requirement: Candidates must be eligible for BPSS clearance and capable of meeting project‑specific security requirements.
Contract & Working Pattern
* Contract: 42.5 hours per week
* Location: South West England
* Site attendance: Minimum 3 days per week on site
* Salary: £65,000 – £75,000 (dependent on experience)

Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates, cost plans, and budgets
Deliver cost planning and financial control throughout the project lifecycle
Review, negotiate, and administer contracts, subcontracts, and variations
Lead procurement processes and evaluate supplier and subcontractor bids
Monitor progress and forecast final accounts, identifying risks and opportunities
Prepare interim valuations, payment applications, and final accounts
Liaise with project stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and suppliers
Ensure compliance with contractual, legal, and internal governance requirements
Produce financial reports and cost analysis for stakeholders
Mentor and support junior commercial team members
Assist with dispute resolution related to cost and contractual matters
Undertake additional duties within capability, with training and full support provided
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Professionally qualified with:
3+ years post‑qualification experience, or
5+ years relevant commercial experience
Academic background in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (HNC/BSc/MSc)
CSCS White Card – PQP or AQP
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or similar
Professional accreditation (RICS, CIOB) preferred
Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement routes, and cost control
Experience using QS software (e.g. CostX, QS Suite, PlanSwift)
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Security & Eligibility
BPSS eligibility is mandatory
Right to work in the UK required
