Health & Safety Co-Ordinator
ODIN Recruitment is seeking a proactive and highly organised Health & Safety Coordinator to enhance our client’s safety management framework across multiple sites. This position blends hands-on operational execution with strategic influence, working closely with site teams, managers, and senior leadership to foster a robust and consistent safety culture. The successful candidate will report directly to the Senior Leadership Team and will have the opportunity to progress into the Health & Safety Manager role over time.
Key Responsibilities:
People & Training
Deliver comprehensive Health & Safety inductions for all new starters.
Manage the ECS Employer Portal components including:
User administration
Assessment assignments
Card applications
Regularly update and maintain the company Training Matrix.
Coordinate training schedules and arrange external courses as required.
Compliance & Risk
Track, review, and maintain risk assessments for all activities and sites.
Support permit-to-work application processes effectively.
Enforce the company’s Health & Safety Policy, ensuring its consistent application across all teams.
Apply technical knowledge of:
CDM Regulations
Working at Height
PUWER
Inspections & Assurance
Conduct regular site inspections, providing clear written reports and findings.
Perform equipment inspections, including ladders and harnesses.
Assist with fleet vehicle compliance support.
Support audits and accreditation programmes by organising and maintaining necessary evidence.
Leadership & Culture
Report on Health & Safety performance directly to the Senior Leadership Team.
Collaborate with line managers to embed and sustain a strong safety culture.
Drive consistent Health & Safety standards and behaviours across all departments.
Develop professionally into the Health & Safety Manager role over time.
Person Specification:
About You:
You are an organised and motivated Health & Safety professional who effectively combines formal qualifications with a positive, proactive approach to safety culture. Comfortable working autonomously, you manage competing priorities and communicate effectively at all levels—from site operatives to senior directors.
Qualifications:
NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent NVQ in Health & Safety (essential).
Technical Knowledge:
CDM Regulations
Working at Height legislation
PUWER (Knowledge in these areas is preferred but not essential at the time of appointment; training and development will be supported.)
Core Competencies:
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Ability to enforce consistency across multi-site operations.
A confident communicator with a collaborative approach.
