Mechanical Project Manager

Leeds

Salary negotiable + package

Our client is a growing Mechanical Services Contractor delivering installation, design, maintenance and aftercare solutions across heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing and refrigeration. The business operates as a mechanical specialist and works across a range of project sizes and sectors from its base near Leeds.

The Role

This is an opportunity to join a smaller, well-established mechanical contractor in a key project delivery position. Unlike larger businesses where operational, commercial and design functions are more heavily split, this role needs someone who is comfortable working across those boundaries and taking real ownership of schemes from pre-construction through delivery and completion.

The successful candidate will be expected to manage projects commercially and operationally, while working closely with design and internal support teams in a hands-on environment.

Key Responsibilities

*

Take full responsibility for the delivery of mechanical projects from initial handover through to completion

*

Manage programme, site coordination, subcontractors, procurement and client communication

*

Take ownership of project commercials, including cost control and overall P&L responsibility

*

Work closely with design and commercial colleagues in a business where roles are less siloed than in larger contractors

*

Monitor project performance, manage risk and help drive successful commercial outcomes

*

Ensure projects are delivered safely, profitably and to the required quality standards

Requirements

*

Must come from a Building Services / Mechanical Contractor background

*

Must have previous Mechanical Project Management experience

*

Must be commercially aware and able to demonstrate P&L responsibility

*

Must be comfortable working in a smaller business where the divide between operational, design and commercial teams is less rigid

*

Needs to be hands-on, adaptable and capable of taking broad ownership rather than working in a narrowly defined role

*

Must have a proven track record of successful project delivery within mechanical building services

The Opportunity

This business describes itself as a mechanical services specialist with capabilities spanning installation, design, maintenance and BIM support, and it emphasises adaptability, bespoke solutions and ongoing aftercare. That makes this role likely to suit someone who prefers a more involved, rounded position rather than a heavily compartmentalised Tier 1 environment
