Quantity Surveyor – Building Services
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and fast-growing building services contractor operating across the North East and UK. With a strong pipeline of mechanical and electrical projects across commercial, education, healthcare, and industrial sectors, we are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team based in Durham.

The Role
As Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing the commercial and financial aspects of multiple building services projects. You will be responsible for cost control, subcontractor management, valuations, and supporting the successful delivery of projects from pre-construction through to final account.
You will work closely with Project Managers, site teams, and clients to ensure robust commercial performance across all schemes.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage all commercial aspects of mechanical and electrical building services projects
* Prepare cost plans, valuations, variations, and final accounts
* Subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and account management
* Monitor project costs, budgets, and forecasts
* Assess and agree variations with clients and subcontractors
* Support monthly applications for payment and cashflow forecasting
* Ensure accurate and timely commercial reporting
* Liaise with project teams to ensure cost control and risk management
* Assist with contractual matters (JCT/NEC where applicable)
* Support commercial strategy across multiple live projects
About You
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction or building services
* Strong understanding of subcontractor packages and cost control
* Experience working with JCT contracts (NEC experience advantageous)
* Excellent numerical, analytical, and negotiation skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
* Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or related discipline (preferred)
