M&E Planner – Building Services

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established, family-run building services contractor with a strong reputation across the North East for delivering high-quality mechanical and electrical projects across commercial, industrial, education, and healthcare sectors.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, we are looking to appoint an experienced M&E Planner to join our team based in Durham.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable and respected business where planning plays a key role in ensuring successful project delivery from pre-construction through to completion.

The Role

As M&E Planner, you will be responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining detailed construction programmes for mechanical and electrical projects.

You will work closely with Project Managers, Commercial Teams, and Site Teams to ensure programmes are realistic, achievable, and aligned with project requirements, contractual obligations, and client expectations.

You will play a key role in supporting both tender and live project delivery, ensuring effective sequencing, resource planning, and progress tracking across multiple schemes.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop, manage, and maintain M&E project programmes from pre-construction through to completion

* Produce tender and construction programmes in line with contract requirements

* Work closely with Project Managers and site teams to ensure programmes reflect site conditions and progress

* Monitor progress and update programmes, highlighting risks and delays

* Carry out critical path analysis and identify programme recovery actions where required

* Support planning input for procurement, commissioning, and handover stages

* Attend project and client meetings to provide planning updates and reports

* Ensure programmes are compliant with contractual obligations (JCT experience desirable)

* Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure accurate sequencing and timelines

* Support continuous improvement of planning processes across the business

About You

* Proven experience as an M&E Planner or Project Planner within building services or construction

* Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical installation sequencing

* Experience working on commercial building services projects

* Proficient in planning software such as Asta Powerproject, MS Project, or similar

* Good understanding of construction methodologies and site-based delivery

* Strong communication and coordination skills

* Ability to work collaboratively with operational and commercial teams

* Relevant qualification in construction, engineering, or building services (preferred)
