Quantity Surveyor – Social Housing (Contract)
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support a public‑sector social housing contract based in Oldham and surrounding areas.
This is a long‑term contract role focusing on housing maintenance, repairs, and planned works, working closely with site teams and housing clients.
Role Details
* Location: Oldham (site‑based with some hybrid working considered)
* Start Date: May 2026
* Contract Length: Initially to December 2026, with strong likelihood of extension
* Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
* Rate: £59.38 per hour (Umbrella)
Key Responsibilities
* Commercial management of social housing maintenance and repair works
* Subcontractor procurement, tendering, and appointment
* Managing valuations, interim payments, variations, and final accounts
* Cost control, forecasting, CVRs, and financial reporting
* Supporting site teams to mitigate commercial risk
* Change control and cost recovery
* Working closely with client representatives and operational teams
Essential Experience
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within social housing
* Strong background in repairs & maintenance or term contracts
* Experience managing subcontractor procurement and payments
* Solid commercial knowledge across JCT or public‑sector contracts
* Confident working in site‑based environments
* Competent using Excel for cost control and reporting
Desirable
* Experience on public‑sector or housing association frameworks
* Knowledge of commercial / procurement systems (e.g. eVision or similar)
