Construction Health & Safety Advisor (Freelance)

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Construction Health & Safety Advisor to join a growing business on a freelance basis delivering a high-profile construction project in Wakefield, with travel to sites in Peterborough, Ipswich, and Norwich. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and knowledgeable professional who is passionate about driving health and safety standards, ensuring compliance, and promoting a strong safety culture on site.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide health and safety support across construction sites and project operations.
Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and compliance checks.
Carry out and review risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
Advise site management teams on current health and safety legislation and best practice.
Deliver toolbox talks, inductions, and safety briefings to site personnel and contractors.
Monitor contractor performance and ensure safe systems of work are followed.
Maintain accurate records, reports, and SHEQ documentation.
Promote a positive and proactive health and safety culture across all projects.
Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders to maintain high safety standards.Requirements:

A NEBOSH qualification is essential (Construction Certificate, National General Certificate, or Diploma).
Demonstrated experience conducting risk assessments, site audits, and incident investigations.
Significant UK-based construction experience with strong knowledge of current legislation, regulations, and site practices.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with project teams, subcontractors, and contractors.
Experience working directly for major UK Tier 1 or Principal Contractors is highly advantageous.
Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH) is preferred but not essential.
Full UK driving licence preferred.
