Working for a maintenance contractor in their voids team

Long term temp (3months minimum)

Voids will be in the SO & PO Postcodes

This is a temp role covering a voids contract in the Southampton and Portsmouth areas

*

You will need your own transport (ideally a van) to move materials and your own tools

*

Initially the temp period will be 3 months before being extended

*

Parking is available at the location you will be working at or parking with be covered if unable to park near by

*

The position can accomodate individual trades or a pair of multi-traders working together

*

Additional travel time could be paid jobs outside of geographical remit

You will be working for an established Maintenance Contractor within the inhouse maintenance delivery team who carry out full void refurbs to a Housing Association’s portfolio of properties. This role will be working within the contractors voids team covering PO and SO Postcodes.

Key elements of the role and your responsibilities

Here you will be focused on turning around void (empty) properties in a safe and timely manner, achieving a finish to be proud of

For this role you should be able to demonstrate a core skilled trade for example carpentry, plumbing or a wet trade and then the ability to undertake a range of multi-trade duties including:

*

Like for like plumbing works

*

Tiling (mainly splash backs)

*

Painting and decorating

*

Patch plastering

*

2nd fix internal carpentry

*

Kitchen fitting

*

Bathroom upgrades

*

General property maintenance

*

Please note that NO electric or gas work will be required to be undertaken in this role, as this work will be undertaken by other trades.

Experience of working on void or the refurbishment of empty residential properties is a must and ideally in a social housing setting

*

As a Multi Skilled operative you will deliver a good quality of work which meets the finished specifications and expectations so the property can be quickly re-let

*

Your work will be a wide range of general repairs and maintenance tasks undertaken in each property

*

Work closely with schedulers and planners to meet contract SLA delivery in a timely manner

*

The ability to advise your supervisor on any issues or challenges that require additional support

*

Work both on your own or sometimes in a team if other trades are required to complete a repair element

*

Complete daily work sheets detailing work undertaken and materials used after each job undertaken

*

Working in a timely and productive manner

What you need to bring to the role as the successful applicant to the

You should have a NVQ Level 2 or NVQ Level 3 in at least one trade or the ability to show that you are “time served”.

Your own 110v power tools and hand tools

Basic IT skills as you will be using a PDA

SOR codes knowledge is desirable

Extensive knowledge of maintenance repair works

Previous experience of social housing repairs, voids, or planned works

£24 – £25 per hour

3 Month Temp role

Own van is a must

Working hours of 7.30am – 5pm

The advertised rates are based on working CIS but a PAYE and holiday payment method and rate can be discussed.
