Construction Planner
About this Role:
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced / ambitious Planner to join the team in the Hampshire Office of this busy regional main contractor group, based in Southampton. Working with several project teams you will have programme input to multiple projects at tender, second stage preconstruction and through construction phase, including review of progress and support to live projects.
You will provide detailed construction planning input to projects at tender stage, second stage preconstruction, and throughout live site construction phase.
You will be responsible for producing detailed and fully linked programmes of construction works, resource charts, logistics plans, plus have input to methodology, and lead-ins for design and procurement.
The role will also involve site visits for progress assessment and reporting. Working with site teams you will have input to re-programme construction activity to maintain progress on target programme.
You will ideally come from a Site/Project Management background into Planning and be able to demonstrate excellent technical and practical on-site construction knowledge as well as ability with the planning software packages.
You will ideally have a main contractor background, with live site construction experience, and the ability to programme a project for tender and in detail for construction and every stage of the delivery phase.
Working with the Regional Office and project teams you will be likely to have input to 2-3 schemes at a time, working in the office with the preconstruction team, plus spending 2-3 days on site also.
About the Company/Client/Project:
The role is with the Hampshire regional office of this busy main contractor covering the South Coast.
Scope of works includes education, healthcare, leisure, defence, etc with projects ranging in value from £40m to £120m in value; Workload is secured for the next 3-4 years with predominately regional and national frameworks, negotiated schemes for repeat clients, and some competitive tenders.
Requirements including certificates and qualifications:
You will a Planner with at least 3-4 years of experience in the role for a main contractor; Ideally from an Engineering and site management / project management background with a main contractor, you will possess excellent communication skills, planning and problem solving ability, technical knowledge with excellent attention to detail, with a positive, 'get it right first time' approach.
Experience of and ability to use ASTA Powerproject and ideally MS Project is essential, plus the ability to effectively program construction activities for projects and previous practical site experience to support this.
You will possess sound technical knowledge together with the experience of working with a large project main contractor construction team.
