Assistant Quantity Surveyor

The Client:
A well-established and highly regarded main contractor based in Essex, delivering a diverse portfolio of new build and refurbishment projects across the commercial, education, healthcare and public sectors. With projects typically ranging up to £10m in value across Essex and into Suffolk, the business continues to grow its commercial team and is now seeking an Assistant / Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to support ongoing delivery.

The Role:
As Assistant / Intermediate Quantity Surveyor, you’ll work closely with senior commercial staff to support the financial management of projects from award through to final account. This role is ideally suited to a strong Assistant QS looking to step up, or an early Intermediate QS seeking to take on greater responsibility within a supportive and experienced team.

You’ll gain exposure across all aspects of commercial delivery, with a clear pathway to progress your career within a stable and growing main contractor.

Responsibilities:

* Assist with the commercial management of projects up to £10m in value.

* Support cost planning, valuations, variations and final accounts.

* Assist with procurement of subcontract packages and supplier engagement.

* Monitor project costs and support cashflow management.

* Work closely with site teams to ensure accurate reporting and cost control.

* Attend project and client meetings where required.

* Maintain accurate commercial records and documentation.

* Support senior QSs in delivering projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications & Experience:

* Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (essential).

* Previous experience within a main contracting environment.

* Strong understanding of construction processes and commercial principles.

* Good communication and organisational skills.

* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

* Full UK driving licence (essential) due to project locations across Essex and Suffolk.
