About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor / Quantity Surveyor with strong commercial management expertise to join a growing construction contractor delivering refurbishment, social housing, and commercial projects across the UK.
This is a key Senior Quantity Surveyor position responsible for the full commercial lifecycle of projects, ensuring robust cost control, contract administration, and financial performance from inception through to final account.
The successful Senior Quantity Surveyor will play a vital role in protecting commercial interests while supporting operational delivery teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:
* Full commercial management of construction and refurbishment projects
* Preparation and submission of interim valuations and final accounts
* Strong management of CVR (Cost Value Reconciliation), cashflow forecasting, and Cost to Complete (CTC)
* Administration of JCT and NEC contracts, including notices and compliance
* Identification, valuation, and negotiation of variations and change control
* Procurement and management of subcontractors and supply chain partners
* Subcontract account management, payments, and final account settlement
* Preparation and issuing of contractual notices to clients and subcontractors
* Leading commercial negotiations with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders
* Maintaining accurate and timely commercial reporting and project documentation
* Working closely with Project Managers, Commercial Managers, and site teams
This Senior Quantity Surveyor role is critical to ensuring strong financial performance and successful project delivery across multiple live sites.
Skills & Experience Required
To be successful as a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Quantity Surveyor, you will need:
* Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor, or Commercial Manager
* Strong working knowledge of JCT and NEC construction contracts
* Experience within main contractor environments
* Background in social housing, refurbishment, or construction projects
* Strong understanding of cost management, budgeting, and financial control
* Ability to measure and value works from drawings and site inspections
* Experience managing subcontractor accounts and procurement processes
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and project reporting tools
* Experience delivering large-scale construction projects
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or Commercial Management (or equivalent experience)
