Senior Quantity Surveyor
Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: South Wales (with travel)
Salary: £65,000 to £80,000 + Car & Package
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a busy and expanding traffic management contractor delivering works across South Wales and the South West of England.
This role offers far more than managing the costs on traffic cones, traffic lights and barriers. The business has experienced significant growth in recent years and is continuing to expand across Wales and the South West. As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in that journey-supporting operational delivery, strengthening commercial processes, and helping to shape the future direction of the region.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will quickly become an integral member of the regional management team, taking ownership of project and contract commercial performance, leading a small commercial team, and providing strategic commercial support to operational teams across a diverse portfolio of contracts.
Based from offices in South Wales, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing the full commercial lifecycle of multiple contracts for both public and private sector clients. You will act as the commercial lead across the region and represent the business in front of clients and leading main contractors.
Key responsibilities will include:
Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers to support successful project delivery
Managing and mentoring junior commercial staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement
Leading the preparation of bids and tenders, ensuring robust pricing strategies and commercial alignment with contract requirements
Reviewing and analysing subcontract tenders, proposals and contractual documentation
Monitoring project performance against budget, forecasts and financial targets through accurate and timely CVR reporting
Providing commercial guidance and direction to operational teams throughout the project lifecycle
Producing regular commercial reports and performance updates for the senior management team
Senior Quantity Surveyors considering this opportunity will ideally have:
Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts
Experience within highways maintenance, utilities, civil engineering, infrastructure or related sectors in the UK
Proven ability to manage commercial performance across multiple contracts
Experience leading or mentoring junior commercial staff
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
A willingness to travel across the region to visit sites and operational depots
The successful candidate will join a business that is investing in its people, systems and long-term growth. You can expect genuine career progression opportunities, a high degree of autonomy, and the chance to make a visible impact on how the commercial function operates across the region.
The package includes:
Salary of £65,000 to £80,000
£5,000 car allowance
25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
Contributory pension scheme
Private healthcare
Discretionary bonus
