Mechanical Building Services Engineer, Permanent Staff

Our client is a specialist, niche Design and Build M&E Building Services Contractor. They are long established and employ approx. 120 staff. All projects are Central London based. They specialise in mixed use Residential and Commercial projects for some long-standing clients. They have a substantial order book stretching into 2029.

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer on a Permanent Staff basis looking for a career position. Our client is looking for: Strong practical and design knowledge of building mechanical services; Good commercial awareness; Appropriate level Mechanical Engineering Qualifications; Full UK Working entitlement; You should have previously held a building mechanical services engineer’s role within a contracting/sub- contracting construction business.

Key Responsibilities: Engineering of single or multiple projects from tender to design development, procurement, construction, handover and defect liability stages; Liaising closely with other professionals, incl. structural engineers, builders, architects and surveyors, in-house project teams; Working with the estimating team to produce successful tender bids; Development of Consultants drawings, with emphasis on the technical and practical merits of their drawings, to produce construction/working drawings; Interpreting specialist CAD drawings, BIM models and other resources to design the systems required for the project; Procuring specialist sub contract and plant and equipment; Managing the design of specialist elements from procurement through to handover e.g. mechanical and BMS controls, fire sprinkler systems; Working with the commercial team within the business to control procurement, financial forecasts and risk; Managing the commissioning of mechanical services on multiple projects; Specifying operations and maintenance procedures to clients
