Overview of the Role
Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting on behalf of a Council in Greater Manchester for a Building Surveyor specialising in Fire Safety and DDA compliance.

This is a key role within the Property Services team, responsible for delivering Fire Risk Assessments, managing associated remedial works, and ensuring statutory compliance across a varied portfolio of public buildings and schools.

You will work closely with the Senior Statutory Compliance Surveyor and play a vital role in protecting building users through effective fire safety and accessibility measures.

Responsibilities

Undertake and manage Fire Risk Assessments across public and education buildings
Ensure compliance with fire safety legislation and maintain accurate records
Develop and manage programmes of FRA works and remedial actions
Produce specifications, tender documentation, and cost estimates
Manage contractors on site, ensuring quality, safety, and value for money
Provide technical advice on fire safety systems, escape routes, and building design
Carry out DDA/accessibility surveys and advise on improvements
Liaise with internal stakeholders, fire service, and external consultants
Deliver fire safety training to building managers and fire wardens
Maintain and update asset and compliance databasesRequirements

Fire Risk Assessment qualification (FPA or equivalent)
HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Building Construction or related field
Strong knowledge of fire safety legislation and compliance
Experience delivering FRAs across public or commercial buildings
Proven contract administration and project delivery experience
Experience preparing tender documentation and specifications
Knowledge of CDM Regulations and Health & Safety legislation
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
