Development Director – Estates & Regeneration

Rate: £700 per day
Duration: 6 Months (Initial)
IR35: Inside (Umbrella required)

Senior leadership role responsible for directing a large‑scale estates regeneration programme within a Higher Education environment.

We are seeking an experienced Commercial / Development professional to provide strategic leadership across estates, facilities and capital development activities. The role will drive commercial value, oversee major contracts and support the long‑term regeneration and optimisation of a complex, multi‑site campus estate.

Key Responsibilities

Lead commercial strategy across estates and facilities, ensuring value, compliance and financial control
Direct commercial aspects of major regeneration, capital and refurbishment projects
Oversee procurement, tendering, contract negotiation and supplier management
Manage large FM, construction, maintenance and infrastructure contracts
Lead supplier performance, KPIs, SLAs and continuous improvement
Provide senior‑level commercial advice to academic and executive stakeholders

Essential Experience

Senior commercial / development management experience within estates or the built environment
Higher Education sector experience essential
Proven track record on major estates development or regeneration projects
Strong contract management, financial and negotiation skills
Experience with FM services, estates operations and compliance

Desirable

RICS, CIPS, IWFM or equivalent
NEC or JCT contracts
Sustainability or estates strategy experience
