Role: Construction Instructor (School-Based Role)
Location: Enfield
Contract: Full-time / Term-time
Setting: SEMH Secondary School

We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Construction Instructor to join a supportive SEMH educational setting in North London. This is a hands-on role working with young people who benefit from practical, vocational learning approaches.

This position is ideal for someone with strong construction skills and a passion for working with young people, particularly those with additional needs. A formal teaching qualification is not required.

The Role:

Deliver engaging, practical construction sessions to small groups of students
Support students in developing vocational skills, confidence, and independence
Create a safe, structured, and inclusive workshop environment
Adapt teaching approaches to meet a range of learning and behavioural needs
Work collaboratively with school staff to support student progress and wellbeingKey Skills & Experience – Experience in construction trades such as:

Woodwork / carpentry
Acrylic work / basic fabrication
Bricklaying
Tiling
Ability to engage and motivate young people through practical learning
Calm, patient, and consistent approach
Understanding of health & safety in a workshop environment
Experience working with young people or in an educational setting is desirable but not essentialWhat We Offer:
