The Opportunity

A leading UK construction and engineering business has secured a landmark project delivering one of the country’s most significant advanced manufacturing facilities, supporting the future of sustainable transport and next-generation battery production.

The development includes the construction of a large-scale lithium-ion battery manufacturing facility alongside associated infrastructure, ancillary buildings, heavy civils, utilities, and extensive MEP packages. Once complete, the scheme will become one of the UK’s largest and most important manufacturing sites within the green energy and automotive sectors.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly respected contractor with a long-standing reputation for delivering complex, technically challenging projects across major infrastructure, commercial, industrial, and engineering sectors throughout the UK.

The Role – Quantity Surveyor (MEP)

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor with strong MEP experience to support the commercial delivery of major mechanical and electrical packages on this flagship project.

The successful candidate will work closely with commercial and operational teams, managing commercial activities from procurement through to final account while ensuring effective cost control, risk management, and value engineering across the project lifecycle.

This role would suit someone with major project or construction management experience who is comfortable operating within large-scale, fast-paced project environments.

Key Responsibilities

Managing commercial aspects of MEP packages from pre-contract through to final account
Supporting procurement, tendering, and subcontractor package management
Administering contracts, variations, valuations, and change management processes
Monitoring project costs, labour, plant, and materials expenditure
Supporting cash flow management and cost reporting
Working closely with operational and project delivery teams
Managing subcontractor accounts and commercial relationships
Supporting risk mitigation and value engineering initiatives
Ensuring commercial processes and project controls are maintained throughout delivery

Requirements

Strong experience as a Quantity Surveyor within MEP or building services packages
Previous experience working on major construction or infrastructure projects
Good commercial awareness with a focus on cost control and profitability
Experience managing projects from pre-contract through to post-contract stages
Strong understanding of subcontractor management and contract administration
Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills

Qualifications

Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related construction discipline preferred.
