Site Manager

365 Recruit

We are working with a leading main contractor to recruit an experienced Site Manager for a major commercial development in Cardiff. This is a key role supporting the successful delivery of a large-scale project, overseeing both external and internal packages from early construction through to completion.

This role is suited to a hands-on Site Manager who is highly visible on site, with an expectation of spending approximately 80% of their time in the field driving progress, quality and safety.

Due to project-specific social impact requirements, applicants must reside within a 1-hour commute of Cardiff.

Key responsibilities

• Day-to-day site management across multiple work packages, ensuring programme, quality and safety targets are achieved
• Maintain a strong on-site presence (circa 80% of time), actively supervising works, coordinating trades and driving productivity on the ground
• Coordination and supervision of subcontractors across external works (groundworks, drainage, steel frame, façade) and internal fit-out (partitions, MEP, finishes)
• Driving programme delivery, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies where required
• Maintaining high standards of health & safety, ensuring full compliance with site procedures and legislation
• Liaising with Project Manager, Contracts Manager and client representatives to provide progress updates and resolve technical issues
• Managing quality control, inspections and snagging processes through to handover
• Chairing site meetings, toolbox talks and daily briefings with subcontractors
• Ensuring works are delivered in line with drawings, specifications and design requirements

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Site Manager on large commercial or mixed-use projects
• Strong knowledge of both external construction works and internal fit-out packages
• SMSTS, CSCS (Black or Gold), and First Aid qualified
• Excellent organisational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple trades
• Strong understanding of programme management and site reporting
• Proactive, hands-on approach with a preference for being site-based rather than office-based
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and drive performance on site

Additional requirement

• Candidates must live within a 1-hour commute of Cardiff to meet the main contractor’s social value and local engagement criteria
