Assistant Design Manager – Residential & Mixed-Use Developments (South East London)
Salary: c. £45,000 + benefits

We are currently working with a well-established, privately-owned construction and development business operating across London and the South East, with a strong pipeline of residential and mixed-use schemes.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an Assistant Design Manager to support the delivery of a number of exciting projects across early-stage design through to construction handover.

The Role
You will support the Design Management team in coordinating design information across multiple stakeholders, ensuring buildability, compliance, and timely delivery across residential-led and mixed-use developments.

Working closely with senior design, commercial and operational teams, you will gain exposure to the full project lifecycle and play a key role in ensuring design intent is maintained through construction.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in managing the design process across multiple live projects

Coordinate consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams

Support design reviews, technical submissions, and approvals

Ensure compliance with planning conditions, building regulations, and employer requirements

Monitor design programmes and assist in identifying risks or delays

Attend design and site meetings, taking responsibility for actions and follow-ups

Contribute to value engineering and buildability discussions

About You

Experience in construction, architecture, or design coordination (contractor or consultancy background ideal)

Exposure to residential or mixed-use developments

Strong organisational and communication skills

Proactive approach with a willingness to learn and develop within design management

Ability to work collaboratively across technical and site teams
