Pay: £350 – £400 per day (Depending on experience)
About the Company
Our client is a well-established and growing M&E contractor based in Kent, delivering mechanical and electrical packages across a range of commercial, residential, and fit-out projects.
Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of work, they are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager to support and take ownership of the commercial function on a part-time basis.
The Role
This is a flexible, part-time opportunity for an experienced QS or Commercial Manager to take full ownership of the commercial performance across multiple M&E projects.
The role is office-based in Sittingbourne, with flexibility around how the working pattern is structured — either 3 full days per week or hours spread across the week to suit both the business and the individual.
You will play a key role in managing project profitability, commercial risk, and financial performance across a busy portfolio of work.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing the commercial performance of multiple M&E projects from pre-construction through to final account
* Preparing and managing cost plans, budgets, and financial forecasts
* Subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and account management
* Producing valuations and applications for payment
* Managing variations, including pricing, submission, and agreement
* Monitoring project costs and producing regular financial reports
* Supporting project teams with commercial advice and risk management
* Ensuring projects are delivered profitably and within agreed budgets
* Final account preparation and agreement with clients and subcontractors
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager within the M&E / Building Services sector
* Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical packages
* Previous experience working for an M&E contractor is essential
* Ability to manage multiple projects independently
* Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
* Familiarity with standard forms of contract (JCT / NEC)
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
