Rate: Up to £320 per day CIS
Location: Milton Keynes We are currently searching for a Site Manager who specialises in Earthworks to join a specialist contractor on a project in Milton Keynes. The project is a civil engineering scheme in which this contractor is tasked with the cut & fill, excavation, deep drainage, stabilisation and FRC. Package value: £6m.
As Earthworks Manager you will be responsible for:
Managing day-to-day earthworks operations, ensuring cut & fill activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with programme requirements
Supervising site teams, subcontractors and plant operations, coordinating labour and resources across bulk excavation and remediation works
Overseeing all earthworks activities, including stripping, excavation, fill placement, capping layers, haul roads and formation preparation
Monitoring levels, volumes and progress, working closely with Engineers and Surveyors to ensure works meet design tolerances and specifications
Managing programme and sequencing of works, ensuring efficient movement of materials and utilisation of plant across site
Ensuring compliance with HSEQ standards, implementing RAMS and maintaining safe working practices around heavy plant operations
Overseeing testing and QA procedures, including compaction testing, moisture control and verification of formation levels
Liaising with the client, main contractor and technical teams, resolving site issues and coordinating inspections and approvals
Managing site logistics and environmental controls, including dust suppression, haul routes and waste/material management
Maintaining accurate site records and reporting, including progress updates, plant utilisation and QA documentation Experience Required:
Proven experience managing bulk earthworks or cut & fill operations within civil engineering or groundworks environments
Strong understanding of earthworks sequencing, plant operations and material management across large-scale sites
Experience managing site teams, subcontractors and heavy plant, driving productivity and programme delivery
Good knowledge of HSEQ, QA and testing procedures, including compaction, formation and earthworks compliance standards
