The role & about the client:
 
Our client is a well-established main contractor based in Portsmouth, delivering projects across the commercial, education, healthcare, residential and public sector markets throughout the South Coast region. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team.This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute Senior QS who has strong experience administering both JCT and/or NEC3/NEC4 contracts and is comfortable managing projects from pre-construction through to final account. The successful candidate will play a key role within the business, working closely with operational teams, clients and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered successfully and profitably.
 
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Managing the commercial aspects of multiple construction projects
Administering JCT and/or NEC3/NEC4 contracts
Preparing valuations, variations, CVRs and final accounts
Subcontract procurement and account management
Cost reporting and forecasting
Managing project cash flow and commercial risk
Liaising closely with clients, consultants and site teams
Supporting and mentoring junior commercial staff where required
Ensuring projects are delivered within budget and maximise profitability The ideal candidate will have:

Proven experience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment
Strong knowledge of JCT contracts and/or NEC3/NEC4 contracts
Experience delivering projects across sectors such as commercial, healthcare, education or residential
Excellent commercial and contractual awareness
Strong negotiation and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Relevant construction qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent)
