Site Agent

A growing and well-established civil engineering contractor with a turnover of approximately £40m is seeking an experienced Freelance Site Agent to support the delivery of a major highways upgrade project.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a reputable contractor with a strong pipeline of infrastructure work across highways and associated civils.

The Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of key sections of the scheme, ensuring works are completed safely, on programme, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

The project will involve a broad range of civil engineering activities including:

– Earthworks
– Drainage installation
– RC structures and associated civils
– Kerbing and paving
– Road construction and surfacing preparation
– Utilities coordination
– Traffic management interfaces

Key Responsibilities

– Managing site operations and subcontractors
– Ensuring health, safety, and environmental compliance
– Coordinating labour, plant, and materials
– Driving programme and productivity on site
– Liaising with engineers, clients, and stakeholders
– Reviewing RAMS, permits, and temporary works
– Maintaining quality assurance and site documentation
– Supporting commercial and programme reporting

Requirements

– Proven experience as a Site Agent on highways or major civils projects
– Strong background in earthworks, drainage, structures, and paving
– Excellent understanding of NEC contracts and site procedures
– SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid certifications
– Ability to lead teams and manage subcontractors effectively
– Strong communication and organisational skills
